When: Weekend of May 19 -20, 2007
Where: Upper New River, West
Virginia
Cost: $30 for members /$50 for non-members which
includes 2 days instruction,
1 year Viking membership (if non-member), 2 nights
camping and Saturday night meal.
This clinic is aimed at
people who are serious about getting into the sport
of whitewater paddling but have little or very
limited experience. This two-day instruction will
set you on your way to whitewater kayaking. Topics
covered will include: boat and river outfitting,
wet exits, rolling, boat control, reading
whitewater, river running and rescue. The
instructors, depending on the skills and desires of
the students for each class, will determine the
clinic setting/river section.
Students must arrange for equipment and
their own transportation to take part in the
clinic. Limited amount of gear is available on fi
rst come, first serve basis. Also it is advised to
participate in club pool sessions before the clinic
to get familiar with kayak and gear.
The registration deadline for the Beginner
clinic is May 1, 2007.
Must be 18 and older unless accompanied by a
parent.
