• Club gear
Club voted to change gear rules as explained below:
Club gear policy:
The Viking Canoe Club will no longer charge for equipment usage, but will allow its gear to be reserved on a first come first serve basis. Members can reserve club gear as often as they wish, but will be alloted two priority reservations per calendar year. After both priority reservations have been used, other members who have priority reservations available to them may preempt that member's request, even after the first member has reserved equipment. However, there will be a lock-in period of 7 days prior to the date of reservation where another member can not preempt the first member's reservation. Finally, if a reservation is made on equipment, that reservation can not be cancelled and will count toward the available priority reservation total for that member, except under extenuating circumstances and by the discretion of the gearmeister.
Non-members will only be allowed to use equipment with the oversight of a club member. Non-members must apply for a temporary club membership to be allowed on club equipment, and after paying a $10 fee. If a non-member uses club equipment for a second time during a calendar year, the non-member will be automatically enrolled as a club member, after signing a club membership form and paying a second $10 fee. The non-member policy will be retroactive as of Jan 1, 2009.
A new forum may be created to assist in tracking and reserving club gear, and to post rules and changes to rules.
Yet to discuss:
Club would like to come up with a gear package for each boat that can be reserved to simplify tracking of all equipment that is lent out. Need to create gear lists for each boat.
Club would like to create laminated instructions of gear use to be supplied with gear package.
• Shredder repair
Will be done according to manufacturers warranty. Already being discussed on forum.
• Roll sessions
Club is planning to hold official roll sessions at Deam Lake every Wed during the summer. However, cost of entry will still be responsibility of each individual.
• Russel Fork
Looking for club representative(s) for study to schedule releases during summer. Requesting volunteers.
Club voted to pay for gas & one meal to anyone who voluteers.
• Picnic
Camping will be at OAR near Ocoee. Date is posted on club calendar.
