About Us

Our
Mission
Our main purpose is to unite persons interested in
paddling and to promote the safe and responsible
use of navigable waters.
About the Vikings
Louisville, KY certainly isn't a Mecca of
riversports, but some folks who insist on living
here do manage to find places to paddle. Our
membership is made up of all types, from beginners
to class V boaters. We paddle canoes, rafts,
duckies and kayaks. In the winter months you will
find many of us at the pool trying to nail that
roll or flatwater cartwheel.
Anyone is welcome to join the club - what ever your
paddling interest is, ability, or level of
experience - this is a chance to meet others with
common interests and similar skill levels.
Our goal is to
have fun!
Organized trips are planned throughout the year
with veteran members leading on a volunteer basis.
An important goal of the Viking Canoe Club is to
offer its members the opportunity to improve their
paddling skills. Every spring the Vikings hold a
clinic for novice paddlers. The Viking Canoe Club
emphasizes safety and many members have taken Swift
Water Rescue classes and are trained in CPR.
Vikings also contribute to the conservation and
access to the rivers we enjoy.
If you live in the area and have an interest in
paddling, we invite you to join us. Dues are $20.00
per year (due in January). Membership dues help to
support the newsletter, website, forum,
conservation, access and social activities.
Download a membership application from the website
or come to a club meeting held on the second Monday
of every month at KT's Restaurant, 2300 Lexington
Road at Grinstead, 6:30 pm for food/social, 7:30
meeting.
Visitors are always welcome.
