Important changes to the Russell Fork release schedule are coming. Act now before the release season is changed without adequate input from the paddling community.
Contact Jami Buchanan at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to voice what proposed changes to the release schedule for the Russell Fork you want. Attend the meeting at the Breaks Interstate Park April 2 at 6:30 to show support for the whitewater community. The fisherman have been heard loud and clear by the USACE. Now they need to hear what paddlers would like. One of the Proposed options is four-day weekend releases throughout October. That would be an amazing, exciting new release schedule. It’s very important that we are unified and loud about what we as paddlers want the new release schedule to be. Please share.

The Corps will hold a second public meeting to inform the public and seek input regarding this change to the winter drawdown process. The meeting will be held at the Breaks Interstate Park Conference Center at 627 Commission Circle, Breaks, Va., on April 2, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.
The final array of alternatives consist of the following four alternative plans:

- Fourteen consecutive days of high volume release from the 3rd Monday to the last Sunday of October.
- Seventeen consecutive days of high volume release from the 2nd Saturday to the last Monday of October.
- No action – no change from current existing conditions.
The objective of the study is to balance the needs of whitewater recreation with fishing in Flannagan Reservoir and downstream in the Russell Fork River.
